The observable light deflection angle
The physical deflection angle of a light ray propagating in a space-time supplied with an asymptotically flat metric has to be expressed in terms of the impact parameter.
متن کاملSpherically Symmetric Static Spacetimes
In this paper we discuss matter inheritance collineations by giving a complete classification of spherically symmetric static spacetimes by their matter inheritance symmetries. It is shown that when the energy-momentum tensor is degenerate, most of the cases yield infinite dimensional matter inheriting symmetries. It is worth mentioning here that two cases provide finite dimensional matter inhe...
متن کاملConnection between black-hole quasinormal modes and lensing in the strong deflection limit.
The purpose of the current Letter is to give some relations between gravitational lensing in the strong-deflection limit and the frequencies of the quasinormal modes of spherically symmetric, asymptotically flat black holes. On the one side, the relations obtained can give a physical interpretation of the strong-deflection limit parameters. On the other side, they also give an alternative metho...
متن کاملFlat foliations of spherically symmetric geometries
We examine the solution of the constraints in spherically symmetric general relativity when spacetime has a flat spatial hypersurface. We demonstrate explicitly that given one flat slice, a foliation by flat slices can be consistently evolved. We show that when the sources are finite these slices do not admit singularities and we provide an explicit bound on the maximum value assumed by the ext...
متن کاملConformally Flat Spherically Symmetric Cosmological Models-revisited
Conformally flat spherically symmetric cosmological models representing a charged perfect fluid as well as a bulk viscous fluid distribution have been obtained. The cosmological constant Λ is found positive and is a decreasing function of time which is consistent with the recent supernovae observations. The physical and geometrical properties of the models are discussed.
